THE STUDY – A combination of TGF-β1 and miR-155-5p

A combination of TGF-β1 and miR-155-5p inhibitor or mimetics may cause an antagonistic or synergistic effect, while adding apigenin may enhance the inhibitor effect and counteract the mimetics effect. Apigenin weakens TGF-β1-stimulated differentiation of cardiac fibroblasts and extracellular matrix production. STUDY OBJECTIVE : The objective of this study was to investigate these effects and possible molecular mechanisms, as well as the possibility of a new use of apigenin in the prevention and treatment of cardiac fibrosis. The genetic test of luciferase reporterase showed that c-Ski was a direct target of miR-155-5p. It is recommended to seek advice from a licensed physician before applying natural, integrative or conventional therapy. The expression levels of mRNA and intracellular proteins were determined using real-time polymerase chain reaction or western blot methods. The information contained in this document does not constitute a diagnosis, treatment, mitigation, or prevention of any disease or medical condition. Similar or opposite results were observed after CF transfection with miR-155-5p or a simulation inhibitor.
